Virtual Events

Over the past few months, the Historical Society of Plainfield/Drake House Museum had to pivot due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Museum has been closed since March 2020 and on site programs postponed until further notice.
However, special programs have resumed in partnership with the Plainfield Public Library Local History Department via Zoom and other internet capable meeting platforms.  These virtual programs have been successful, and plans are in the works to continue these virtual programs for the future. Please continue to check here and the Plainfield Public Library Local History Department website for programming updates. http://www.plainfieldlibrary.info/Departments/LH/LH_main.html

Presented by Sarah Hull,Head of the Local History, Genealogy & Special Collections Dept.,Plainfield Public Library.
Co-hosted with Plainfield Public Library the Historical Society of Plainfield I Drake House Museum
This presentation highlights the various Black history resources specific to Plainfield available in the Library's archive. Because these records are "hidden" across multiple collections, it has been difficult for researchers, students, historians, and genealogists to locate them.
This program will shed some light on how to access these valuable resources. There will be time for a Q&A following the presentation.
